Jobs that help companies digitize and grow in between economic volatility are on the rise in Singapore, according to LinkedIn.
His last Growing employment data revealed peaks in the hiring of growth specialists, technical jobs and health professionals in Asia – among other jobs expected to expand hiring until 2023.
LinkedIn researchers examined jobs from January 2018 to July 2022 to calculate the growth rate for each job title in a specific country.
LinkedIn added that to be classified as a job, a job title must see consistent growth on the platform in the last five years, and also be “grown to a significant size” by 2022.
Workers can use this list to define their next move in their career and “prepare for the future world of work,” he added.
Employment trends in Singapore
The LinkedIn report found that the proportion of paid jobs that offer a remote work option fell from 7.8% in December 2021 to 4.1% in the same period last year.
Guy Berger, its chief economist said in another report last year that the economic climate caused some companies to “pull back flexibility“Introduced during the pandemic.
What is on the rise, however, are technical or engineering roles – such as cloud engineer, cybersecurity engineer, back-end developer and artificial intelligence engineer.

“From a geographic perspective, Singapore is a good base for technology companies looking to enter Southeast Asia and other APAC markets.”
Demand for tech workers remains strong
However, Waves of technology layoffs have been reported in Southeast Asia last year amid challenging macroeconomic conditions, including Indonesia GoTo groupSingapore Sea Group and Carousel.
Chhabria remains optimistic, saying this will be a transition year for the tech industry and it may “return to more normal hiring levels.”
“Overall demand for workers remains strong with workers moving on to other jobs within the industry and across the industry,” he added.
“Technology jobs not only serve the technology sector, but are also in demand in other sectors as they continue to invest in digital transformation.”
Like India, jobs that focus on growing businesses and acquiring new customers are also on the rise, LinkedIn said.
Such jobs — which Chhabria said help “companies do more with less” in times of economic uncertainty — include sales development, business development and demand generation.
